We’re always on the search for good books that our kids will enjoy. And we’ve found some good ones over the years, so I’m passing on our wins. These books are a collection that we’ve found to be encouraging, inspiring, adventurous and truth-telling. Enjoy!

  • The Prince Warriors by Priscilla Shirer - Have a kid who’s captivated by adventure? Get this. Based on Ephesians 6, prince warriors must fight an unseen enemy. It’s a set and we only have the first, but I’ve heard good things from friends. This one is best for older kids.

  • God’s Very Good Idea by Trillia Newbell - We love how this book showcases the beauty of our different skin colors.

  • The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein – A classic kid book that never gets old, this one teaches the importance of self-sacrifice and sharing. It’s also free on Kindle if you are a member of Prime.

  • Big Feelings by Alexandra Penfold - Disclaimer: We have heard this is a good one, but haven’t read it ourselves yet.

  • Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones and God - This is the Bible our kids use and LOVE. Our kids are captivated by the Bible because this publication presents it to them in a fun, engaging, kid-friendly way.

  •  NIV, Adventure Bible by, well…the author of everything - This is great choice for kids who are in early elementary school. Our son uses this and it gives great recaps and details that help him understand context.

  • If Jesus Lived Inside My Heart by Jill Roman Lord - This one is truly a great way to introduce young kids to the presence of Jesus.

  • The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis - We can’t say enough good things about this - specifically the second book in the series, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It’s classic. It’s captivating. It’s a must-read…but it’s best for older kids.

  • Betty Confetti by Maghon Taylor - This is a new release by an N.C. native and past Restored speaker. It helps kids understand how God creates incredible beauty from incredible mistakes. It’s perfect for young children and those who love art.

  • Bible Belles by Erin Weidemann – Our daughter is obsessed with this series. They take female Bible heroines, like Esther and Deborah, and talk about each woman’s super power (patience, leadership, etc.) in a narrative way that can help kids navigate situational issues.

  • The Princess Parables by Jeanna Young and Jacqueline Johnson – This series is easy to read for littles and always incorporates a Biblical truth with a family of princess whose father is a loving king.
