Tell us about your family, and what’s your childcare solution.

My husband, Dillon, and I have been married eight years and our son, August, will be three in June. Dillon has been a stay-at-home dad for at least three days a week since August was born, but that turned into a full-time gig during the pandemic. Now, Dillon somehow balances a part-time engineering job, making dinner and being a super engaged stay-at-home dad. August is our curly-haired cutie who is learning all about his emotions, loves vehicles, and eats a banana almost every day. I’m one lucky lady for sure!

Where do you work, and what is a typical workday like for you?

I’m an audit manager for a public accounting firm. Yes – I’m a CPA…No – I don’t do taxes. I work primarily with nonprofits to ensure a smooth financial and compliance audit experience. My typical workday involves client and internal team meetings, lots of Excel spreadsheets, and usually at least one piece of chocolate.

Share some of your goals – personal or professional.

Personally, I would like to deepen my relationships. In this season of life, I’ve definitely found it more difficult to maintain friendships, which is something I want to improve. Professionally, I would like to be someone who leads with grace and truth.

What motivates you to work?

A problem that needs to be solved. Can you tell I’m type A / probably Ennegram One?

How do you like to relax?

Reading in the hammock on my front porch

What is your favorite part of motherhood?

I love seeing August’s personality emerge. He definitely makes me laugh every day! We recently started a list of our favorite August quotes, because I want to remember them forever.

What does Restored mean to you? How has it impacted you personally?

Restored feels like a safe space because there are other women who know the challenge of being a working mom. I love that it is a place for both socialization and spiritual/personal growth.

What is one of your favorite Restored events to date? Why is it your favorite?

I found the stress and time management table talk with Natalie Holm super helpful. That’s probably influenced by the fact I won the Better Note planner, which I literally use every day at work! I also loved the Esther Bible study.

Can you share how you overcome challenges related to the “mom chaos” that settles in when you feel pulled in 100 directions? I just try to focus on being a connected parent in the time I have with August. As a working mom, that time is limited, so I have to focus on quality, not quantity. I don’t do it perfectly, but from the time I get home from work until August goes to bed, I make an effort to put my phone away so he can see my mind and body engaging with both him and Dillon.

Besides your faith and family, what are you passionate about?

I love a good DIY project! I’m also super interested in Montessori methods and one of the ways I stay involved in August’s play even while I’m at work, is creating a prepared environment and rotating toys on a weekly basis.
