5 Unique Summer Camp Options

For kids, summer is for splashing in the pool, chasing lightening bugs, and staying up late. For working moms, it’s something different altogether. Summer is the season for crossing your fingers that your childcare solutions of camps and nannies work out for everyone involved. (Or, is that just my personal situation?)

There’s so much advanced planning that goes into finding a summer childcare solution that fits well. So, to help you out, we surveyed 35 Restored moms and compiled five unique summer camp options to help your summer planning go just a little bit smoother.

Here are five trusted camps our moms recommend:

  • YMCA Track Out Camp – Summer at the Y is never boring! How do I know? Because my first job was as a Y camp counselor! Kids get to make new friends, play new games, explore new sites, and swim outdoors…or indoors depending on your facility. Highly recommended for the kiddo with extra energy.

  • Summer Camp at Spiritual Twist Productions – This is great option for art-inclined children. This Garner-based nonprofit is a year-round Christian youth theater with a mission to produce real musical theater with a spiritual twist that shares the gospel every time the young actors take the stage.

  • Science Fun for Everyone – Dinosaurs. Slime. Nature. You name it, they have a class for it – both in person and virtually. Another great science camp option is Science Safari. Both are located in Cary.

  • CDE – From princesses to the Descendants, this Garner company has fun camp options for kids who love to dance. Pirouette Dance Company in Holly Springs also has great in-person dance camps, and drop-in classes too!

  • School House of Wonder – This outdoor nature camp promises to send kids home dirty, tired and happy. They cover Wake, Durham and Orange counties with fantastic options for younger and older kids (moms of teens highly recommend). Our family will definitely be looking into this one!

Not into summer camps? We’ve got you covered, mama! Here is last year’s interview with SMS Raleigh, a babysitting service that connects families with local sitters to create comfortable childcare solutions. Stellar Sitters is another trusted babysitter/nanny placement service.

Whatever you decide for your family this summer, my hope is that it works well for your family!
